1)
A. Image #47 where Buddha and Cody are saying their final goodbyes to Ian before he heads out to Iraq. This shows a personal moment between best friends who aren't sure whether or not they'll be able to see each other again.
B.
Set #1 At home in Denver - Image #1to Image #9
Set #2 At Basic Training - Image #16 to Image #29
Set #3 In Iraq - Image #51 to Image #70
Set #4 Back in Denver - Image #71 to Image #83
Set #3 in Iraq had the most powerful images because it showed Ian going through short sequences of his everyday life in Iraq, not to mention him going through that emotional trauma with his girlfriend dumping him while he was still overseas.
C. They start from the beginning where Ian is enlisting into the Army from going off to basic training, back home, flying overseas to Iraq, and back home. The images are all numbered off to how Ian progresses in his life as he joins the Army.
2)
A. Present tense.
B. They actually tell the story from beginning to end, normally we wouldn't be able to see that, but the captions give us that opportunity to know what's going on with Ian's life in the Army.
3)
Image #26 Ian falls victim to yet another harmless prank by his bunk mates who couldn't resist this golden opportunity as Ian continues to always set himself up for their shenanigans.
Image #72 Ian wears a grin on his face, glad to finally be back from Iraq to visit his family and friends back in Denver.
Image #48 Ian and his father share a personal moment together before his deployment, his father giving him words of advice along the way.
