40 greatest photos taken

Just the fact the kid was the one who gave the heart shaped balloon to the riot police, it showed how a simple kid even knows violence isn't always the option. The photographer did a great job due to showing both before and after images focusing on the heart shaped balloon and riot police. I believe it made it up on the top 40 photos ever because of the symbolism for peace, and how a kid even understands the need for no violence. (Ioana Moldovan)

I picked this photo because of all the emotion gained from looking at a father on his knees in silence remembering his son. The photographer focused in on Robert Peraza and on the memorial that contained his son's name while also blurring out the background pedestrians to give it a more personal and private feeling. This was chosen to be in the top 40 photos ever taken because it's such an emotional image of a father mourning over the lost of his son in a tragic event. (Justin Lane-Pool)

This photograph was picked because it makes you feel a sense of hope during a tragic natural disaster. The photographer choosed wisely by focusing on the solider and the infant child. This photograph was chosen in the top 40 photos ever taken because it displayed a powerful emotion of hope and happiness that can be found in even a tragic event such as the Japanese tsunami that has taken numerous of lives.
